JEWELLERY The Goldfield Heritage range of jewellery is designed and crafted in Ballarat. The Eureka Flag The Eureka Flag design is a well-loved feature of the range. The Eureka Flag was the flag of the Ballarat Reform League, and features the Southern Cross. The Flag was first flown on Bakery Hill in 1854 when miners burnt their gold licenses in protest against what they considered to be goldfield tyranny and an unjust tax. The Flag was flown on an eighty foot pole. The diggers took the 'Oath of the Southern Cross'. They knelt, and with heads uncovered pointed to the banner and said, "We swear by the Southern Cross to stand truly by each other and defend our rights and liberties." Available in sterling silver or 9 carat gold. Designs include earrings, brooch, pedant, stickpin (for ladies and mens lapels), small and large Eureka Flag charm. Australian Flag charm A miniature Australian flag is available in sterling silver. Goldpan charm The goldpan charm is modelled on the goldpans of the diggings and features the 'lip' that was so famous to keep the pan ëafloatí.
